Preserve the Craftsmanship: Furniture Care Tips for Your Nagano Pieces

By: westhillinteriorsComments: 0

At Westhill Interiors, one of the most common questions we hear is, How should I care for my wooden furniture? We love that our customers care deeply about the pieces they bring into their homes. Nagano Interior furniture is made with natural materials and thoughtful craftsmanship. With the right care, these pieces can stay beautiful for years to come.

Here is a simple guide to help you look after your furniture, from solid wood to upholstered finishes.

Caring for Wood Surfaces

A little care every day can go a long way. Wipe wood surfaces gently with a soft, dry cloth such as flannel. With regular attention, the wood will keep its natural texture and gradually develop a soft, elegant sheen. If the surface becomes dirty, clean it with a mild detergent or furniture cleaner using a slightly damp cloth. Be sure to dry it well afterwards. Try to avoid placing wooden furniture in direct sunlight or in humid spaces, as natural wood can react to extreme conditions and may crack or warp over time.

Keeping Fabric Upholstery Fresh

Many of our sofas, stools, and chairs feature fabric upholstery that brings comfort and ease to a space. To keep it looking its best, dust regularly with a feather duster or a soft nylon brush. Once a week, use a vacuum to clean around seams and corners where dust tends to collect. For handprints or oily marks, gently clean with benzine. For larger stains, a quick spot clean with a soft brush usually works well. If your furniture has removable covers, check the label. Some can be washed at home, while others may require professional cleaning.

Why Placement Matters

Where you place your furniture plays an important role in how it lasts. High humidity and poor airflow can lead to dust and moisture buildup, so be sure to keep your space well ventilated. Leave a little room between the furniture and the wall to allow air to circulate. Ten centimeters is a good amount of space. Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight or too close to heating or cooling units. These conditions can cause fading or warping over time. Also make sure your furniture rests on an even surface. Uneven placement can affect how drawers and doors function and may lead to unnecessary wear.

A little care goes a long way. With the right habits, your Nagano Interior furniture will stay beautiful for years to come. If you ever have questions, feel free to visit us at Westhill Interiors or get in touch. We are always happy to help.
