Designer: Shiro Kuramata – celebrated Japanese interior designer, a pioneer of post‑modernism 

Brand: Yamagiwa (Japan), renowned for blending craftsmanship with visionary design since 1923.

This sculptural floor light, also affectionately known as “Oba‑Q” (after a beloved ghost cartoon), was first designed in 1972. It’s created through an exquisite artisanal process in which a single heated acrylic sheet is draped over a vertical pole—naturally forming soft, flowing folds as it hardens 

The milky, translucent opalescent resin emits a diffused gradient glow, giving the illusion of a floating apparition that mesmerizes and calms. Its biomorphic shape and serene aura embody Kuramata's signature fusion of poetic minimalism and avant‑garde expression
