Westhill Nagi area rug in 70% wool and 30% yak hair. Round, oval, or rectangle, five colours. Braided, breathable, and suitable for heated floors. Read more..
Nagi is a hand-braided area rug by Westhill Interiors, made from 70% wool and 30% yak hair. The name is Japanese for a calm, windless sea, and that is the feeling it brings to a room: a quiet surface underfoot, easy next to wood.
The wool in one rug is about what twenty sheep grow over a lifetime. It is naturally lofty, so it springs back and holds warmth. It also takes in moisture from the air and lets it go again, which is why the rug stays breathable instead of feeling damp. It resists bacteria and dust mites, and it is fine on a heated floor.
The edge is thick and tightly finished, flat to the floor, so it does not fray and it wears slowly. You can use either side. At about 8 to 10 mm, it is substantial enough to soften the sound of a room without looking heavy.
There are no chemical additives. A light natural smell when the rug is new is normal, and it fades if you air the room.
Nagi comes in Ivory, Oatmeal, Light Grey, Coffee Brown, and Dark Brown, as a round, an oval, or a rectangle. The colour does not change the price. The shape and the size do.
